Lou’s Handshake

If you hire Alloway Construction & Restoration, we bring the very best of our experience and knowledge to your project, no matter the size. Once we determine the scope of work, we steer decision-making towards the materials and construction methods most appropriate for the job and your budget. During construction, we maintain high standards in all phases of the work. We place great importance on keeping production on schedule while allowing room for changes that might come up along the way. We want the project to be exactly what you want.

Hands On Approach

When you contact us, Lou will work closely with you during the entire design phase to develop the project’s scope and a realistic budget.   We will also recommend an architect, or if needed, we have the ability to do a lot of design work in-house.  Once we have a signed contract, Production Manager Mike Feskany takes over to build the schedule and to get work underway. At the beginning of a project, you will see Mike a lot.

Once the project begins, Mike coordinates resources and makes sure your job is on track. After this, responsibility for the day-to-day progress on your job resides with one of our Project Managers.  They are on the jobsite every day. They work as lead carpenters and supervise the progress and standard of the work. They maintain a line of communication with Lou and Mike about any changes or concerns you have as the job progresses. As Kurt liked to say, your Project Manager will become your “new best friend” very quickly after the job begins.

General Contractor Model

Alloway Construction & Restoration uses a general contractor model – what we see as a creative partnership. Everyone on the job is a member of the team – the inside staff, outside subcontractors and tradespeople, material suppliers, the architect, and you, the client. One of our goals is to minimize disruption to you and to the overall project. We do this by respecting each other’s schedules, having materials ready when needed and communicating with each other daily. We believe that trust and respect make a team work well together.

How The Process Works

Price planning is a service that Alloway Construction & Restoration offers to make sure your project meets your budget. We prefer this Negotiated Bid approach to that of the Competitive Bid approach because we can give you “real-time” pricing feedback so that you can make important decisions during the design process. In this phase, for example, we might bring in the subcontractor who will install a heating system to understand how his work may impact the design and total cost of the project. In so doing, the Negotiated Bid approach gives you and your architect the opportunity to adjust the design and scope before the final plans are completed which ensures that the project will fit your budget.

The Sweet Sound of Sawing, or the Work Begins

A Pre-Construction meeting is arranged with you, Lou, Production Manager Mike Feskany and the designated Project Manager. This first meeting morphs into a scheduled Weekly Meeting on the job, where progress and concerns are reviewed and discussed. The Project Manager runs this meeting, which Lou or Mike attends with you and any subcontractors or workers crucial to this phase of the job.

Topics are as follows: job status; anticipated progress for the coming week; client decisions; modifications and change requests; and inspections schedules.  Most importantly, we gauge client satisfaction and expectations by asking you if there is anything we can do to make the job run more smoothly. We always want our clients to be happy when Alloway Construction & Restoration comes on the job.

We keep our promises

A job is finished when every item on the punch list is crossed off. In contractor-speak, a “punch list” notes all the loose ends, right down to the final house cleaning.

We will see you around town.

Like a good house guest, we want to leave a job better than when we found it. We want to be invited back.

We follow up

We will check in with you several times after the job has been completed to make sure that everything is still performing well and to find out if there are any adjustments that need to be made after you have started using the new space.

We also ask you to complete a survey so we can get your feedback to specific questions regarding your experience with Alloway Construction & Restoration.  We use it to identify areas of improvement and we are quite proud of our results.  You can see these at Guild Quality.  Take a peek to see what our past customers have said about us.
